Q. My company received a W-9 with TIN / legal name (W-9 line1 name as shown on income tax return) which is not a match with the IRS records, and a business name/disregarded entity name (W-9 line 2) which is a match with the IRS records. The vendor selected the single-member LLC tax classification. I asked the vendor to provide a W-9 with the owner’s SSN or TIN, which is the IRS match for the name on line 1.
