CPRS Recertification Process

Due to the constantly changing nature of IRS regulations, we require Certified Payment Reporting Specialists to retake the final Certification exam every two years (for a $150 recertification fee) in order to remain compliant.*

Here is how it works:

  1. Within 3 months of your expiration date, you are eligible to recertify your CPRS designation. If you're in the 3-month window, please use the form on this page to start the process. We will confirm your eligibility and send you the payment link for the $150 fee. You have until the expiration date of your current CPRS Certification to pay the fee.
  2. Once the recertification fee is paid, you will receive access to the most current version of the CPRS e-book (1099 Master Guide) and the corresponding final exam.
  3. You have 3 attempts and 90 days from the day you pay the recertification fee to pass the CPRS Recertification Exam. The exam is 50 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes.

If your CPRS Certification is more than 3 months expired, you are no longer eligible for the $150 recertification course. You will need to start over and repurchase the full CPRS program (valued at $895). Discounts are available for re-enrollments; contact us to learn more.

*Recertification only applies to those who received their original CPRS Certification after November 12, 2017. Do you need to retake the CPRS exam or maintain CEUs? Please refer to the table below.
