Q. We have an elderly patient who is refusing to deposit a sizable refund check that we have attempted to send to her numerous times (over $10K). She claims that she has already received this refund and is sure she is being "scammed". If we can document these attempts, can we write off this refund or must we hold for submission to "unclaimed" property? A.
