Maintaining Your AP Certification

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Not certified yet?
See Why Get Certified
Regulatory rules and AP technologies are changing at a rapid pace – and the continuing education requirements of certification ensure APM and APS credential holders continue to maintain and enhance their AP expertise. Therefore, accredited AP professionals are required to earn continuing education credits through training, education and other professional development activities.

To retain certification without reexamination, the following CEU requirements apply:

Accredited Payables Specialists (APS) must earn 20 CEUs every 2 years to retain their certification.
Accredited Payables Managers (APM) must earn 30 CEUs every 2 years to retain their certification.)
Accredited Payables Departments (APD) must have 60 percent of their non-clerical staff retain their certification status for the departments to retain their departmental certification designation.)

It is the responsibility of the APM or APS certification holder to meet CEU requirements. You will receive a quarterly statement that indicates CEU credits that have been previously reported to TAPN or IOMA. It is your responsibility to report CEU credits to TAPN on a CEU Request Form.

Check your CEU status

TAPN members can check their CEUs on TAPN at:

Non-members can receive a statement of their CEUs via email:

Earn CEUs

The Accounts Payable Network awards CEUs for all of its programs and seminars. APM and APS holders may also earn CEUs by attending other approved educational activities, various seminars or educational events (sponsored by organizations other than TAPN or its affiliates), or college/university courses.

To register for CEU-qualified AP conferences, audio conferences and video seminars, see TAPN's AP Store.
